The baptism of George Lockley Wycherley is the earliest record of our family living in Liverpool. The record shows that Ann Wycherley and Thomas Wycherley were living in Greenland street when they had their son baptized at saint Peter’s church. He was a stonemason. The record is not true, because in fact they were only married years later in 1845. Ann’s maiden name was Lockley and she was very proud of this name since she gave her maiden surname as a christian name to several of her children. We suspect that her granddaughter (Harriet Forrester) did the same when naming her son Hugh Grant Forrester. Greenland street still exists in the same location but only has modern commercial buildings.
